community consultation
icecream is widely involved in community consultation and development. Our ethos; to make architecture more accessible, centres around our mobile architectural unit and our desire to bring architecture to even the most isolated communities.
icecream offers local community groups the opportunity of architectural workshops to promote design and forward thinking for their developments. Specific feasibility studies of rural and urban areas can be carried out including landscape, planning and construction programmes. It is our aim to break down the barriers of professional formality that often can separate the architectural profession from local groups. Our belief is that architects need to get out into the local community in order to understand their specific needs and to make certain that any local design process is a community/design team collaborative rather than just a business deal between designer and client.
This is the foundation of icecream. The icecream van mentality is about getting out on the road and building relationships. This approach leads to a level playing field where the client/designer relationship is stronger; the essential factor to successful projects
